Brompton has redesigned its Superlight category into the P Line, featuring a new titanium rear triangle and lightweight components.
The P Line, which joins the A and C lines, weighs 21.2 pounds, nearly 4 ½ pounds less than the C Line models. The titanium rear frame and fork are 700 grams lighter than the all-steel equivalent while maintaining strength. The redesigned suspension block, Brompton said, maximizes efficiency and responsiveness by shifting pedal power to improve control and handling.
A new dual-locking seatpost system has two positions, fully down for storing, or halfway up for rolling. The larger, lighter wheels allow transporting over uneven ground or through tight spaces.
The Brompton-designed gearing is tuned for city riding. It’s a four-speed system that includes a 60-gram derailleur that fits inside the compact fold and provides a similar ratio to the three-speed hub gear and 60% more than the two-speed.
The wheelset is the lightest and sturdiest offered by Brompton, featuring a new rear hub for the four-speed gear set. It’s fitted with hex key axles and a new hanger mount.
